On a More Personal Note

January 5, 2011

What is most of interest and importance to each of us in terms of spiritual beliefs and practices is our own experience. Similarly, the most important understanding, really, is self-understanding.

If we understand human nature in general, and how we are not (or only rarely) an exception in how we operate, we can keep needed perspective on what beliefs we take on, what habits and experiences we pursue, etc. A key goal is to become more and more conscious and intentional in what we do, more aware of what we most deeply believe and why.

We all grow in these areas, and ideally will continue growing throughout life, even in old age. According to my kid’s earlier time-line, I’m now an “old geezer” at 61 (they’ve graciously extended the starting point now). But I’m definitely (as you can probably see) as interested in learning and growth as I was at 21, 31, etc… maybe more so!

I have been exposed to a whole lot in the areas mentioned above and covered in this blog: psychology and self-understanding, pursuit of faith, religious understanding and spiritual practices. I thought my readers might enjoy a little more detail on some of that, from my childhood on, beyond the brief “About” description. So I’ve created a new page, “Howard’s Personal Story.” It is taken straight from my Amazon ebook, which you can access at http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Ddigital-text&field-keywords=figuring+out+your+faith (Copy/paste if link does not lead you there.).

We’d love to hear either the few-sentence summary of your spiritual journey, or a longer version.  How has your journey been, and how is it right now?

Would like to compare backgrounds but could not make the link to your personal history work–tried cutting & pasting but it didn’t work. Any suggestions?

My apology. Was able to access via “Howard’s Personal Story” on blog page. Will try to follow up another time. Too late for me right now.
    Peace.
